The Weaver Art Gallery presents the “Essence and Matter” art exhibition, featuring the work of Ramiro Rodriquez and Laurie S. Rousseau. The artwork will be on display Nov. 8, 2019-Jan. 30, 2020, in the Weaver Gallery and Great Hall, located in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center. An opening reception for this show will take place on Fri., Nov. 8 at 11 a.m.
Rodriquez is a painter and printmaker based out of South Bend. He has had solo exhibitions at various places in South Bend, including Notre Dame, as well as in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan. His work has also been in group exhibitions all over the United States, and abroad in Brazil, Hong Kong, Mexico and Nicaragua. He holds many awards, including several from the Annual Art & Social Justice Exhibition in South Bend. Rodriquez has his B.F.A. from Kendall College of Art and Design and his M.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati School of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning.
Rousseau is the Head of Arts at Adirondack Camp in upstate New York. She graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in Michigan and then the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, with a Masters in Drawing. Rousseau has been teaching art to children for 20 years, and currently teaches children ages 3 to 14 years at Good Shepherd Montessori School in South Bend. She is especially passionate about botanical art.
Rodriquez and Rousseau are husband and wife; they are excited to be exhibiting together in both the Weaver Gallery and the Great Hall at Bethel University. Their exhibition will be free and open to the public.
