Editor of Christianity Today to Speak at 71st Commencement

This year, more than 425 students plan to participate in Bethel College’s two commencement ceremonies, which will be held Saturday, May 5, in the Wiekamp Athletic Center on Bethel’s campus. The 10 a.m. commencement includes adult programs, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) completion and graduate programs. The 5 p.m. commencement includes all traditional undergraduate programs, Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Graduation activities include a party at the ponds on the evening of May 4 for graduates and families, nurse pinning, and a 50-year reunion for the class of 1968, who will lead this year’s graduates on the traditional walk through Bethel’s campus at the start of the commencement ceremony. The speaker for both ceremonies will be Katelyn Beaty, an editor-at-large with Christianity Today. Beaty previously served as the magazine's youngest and first woman managing editor. She is the author of "A Woman's Place: A Christian Vision for Your Calling in the Office, the Home, and the World" (Simon & Schuster), now available in paperback and as a video Bible study curriculum. A native of Dayton, Ohio, and graduate of Calvin College, she has written for The New York TimesThe Washington Post, and The Atlantic and lives in the Chicago suburbs.
