Join the Bethel University Music Department for their Fall Instrumental Concerts. The Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will perform on Thurs., Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center Auditorium on Bethel’s campus. Then on Fri., Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m., the Percussion Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra will perform at the same location.

The Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble concert on Nov. 21 will open with a performance by the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Wade Armentrout. The program will include “The Klaxon” by Henry Fillmore, “Festivo” by Vaclav Nelhybel, and “Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson. The Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will follow, also under the direction of Wade Armentrout. Selections will include “In the Mood” by Joe Garland, “Spain” by Chick Corea, and “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Louis Prima.

Then, on Nov. 22, the Percussion Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra will perform. Under the direction of Dr. Reg Klopfenstein, the Percussion Ensemble’s repertoire will include “Rain Dance” by Joseph McIntyre and “Taiko” by Scott R. Harding. The concert will also feature solo performances from 2014 Bethel alumnus Jacob Grabill. Dr. Vicky Warkentien will direct the Chamber Orchestra in performances of “Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus” by Beethoven, Yuankai Bao’s “Symphony No. 2, Sketches of Taiwan”, and “West Side Story Highlights” by Leonard Bernstein. This concert will also feature a side-by-side performance with the John Adams High School Orchestra.
