Bethel College’s 30th annual campus-wide Service Day will take place on Tues., Oct. 2 at 8:30 a.m. Sponsored by United Federal Credit Union (UFCU), Bethel students, faculty, staff and credit union employees will serve together throughout Michiana. The day will start in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center on Bethel’s campus, where individuals will divide into groups and leave campus to volunteer at various local organizations from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
United is devoted to giving back to the community and are excited to partner with Bethel College. United seeks to come alongside Bethel and build connections within the Michiana area.
More than 700 participants will serve at approximately 50 different locations in the community, including Food Bank of Northern Indiana, Center for Hospice Care, Rum Village, Pet Refuge, Center for the Homeless, Transformation Ministries, and more. Service at each location generally varies from physical labor such as yard work, construction, and painting to personal interaction with the elderly and children.
All classes before 6 p.m. are cancelled for the day so all students, faculty and staff may participate.
“Service has been a pillar of Bethel from its founding. We facilitate a variety of service opportunities throughout the year but this day is unique because it’s campus-wide. Employees from our sponsor, United Federal Credit Union, will be serving alongside us again this year, and for the first time ever, we’re inviting Alumni to join us as well to help us celebrate our 30th Service Day,” said Tyler Grant, service day coordinator and director of Global and Community Engagement.
